68 Tiny Little Pieces of Glass

This little star fixture started its' life as an outdoor candle holder.  My handy father was able to rewire it so I could use it inside.  It stayed inside for a short bit of time in my office, but sadly, it wasn't bright enough and I didn't like the colors.  Then when our house went up for sale my office became the dining room (again) and this little fixture ended up in the garage.  I've had a decorating crush on a Moravian star fixture for quite a while but have been unwilling to fork over the cash for one.  That's why I bought this one.
Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture before I started taking it apart, but you get the idea.  It wasn't very pretty.  It was sort of pretty.  It was fugly.

I'm putting up an optic fiber star ceiling in the girl's room in the new house (which I'll blog about later) and I've been looking for a fixture that will stay with the space theme (but not be too over the top).  Today I decided to buy a glass cutter, cut out 68 little triangles using the glass from an old picture frame, spray paint the frame white and create this little star light.  Did you know that glass cutting is an art?  It is.  A glass cutter I am not.  That was hard.

What do you think?  Not bad for about $20 total investment, and it'll be lovely in their new room.

UPDATE:
Here it is in their room.
